What is curtailment and how does it work with FlexiO?
Curtailment ensures you don’t incur costs by sending excess solar energy to the grid when the injection price is negative. This typically applies only if you have a dynamic energy contract.

If your inverter supports curtailment, you don’t need to do anything; it happens automatically. Note that your installation may still inject power at negative energy prices if your inverter doesn’t support curtailment, or because there is more value on other energy markets such as rPOWR and ePOWR.
What is the difference between Engie Dynamic and Engie Empower Dynamic?
Both are dynamic tariffs from Engie. In FlexiO, select the correct tariff in your settings. The difference lies in the exact tariff structure and offering. FlexiO supports both - make sure you select the right one for accurate control. If in doubt: check your Engie contract for the exact product name. For more info visit the website of Engie.
What is the difference between grid balancing via energy supplier and via grid operator?
FlexiO offeres grid balancing in two types: rPOWR for grid operators, and ePOWR for energy suppliers. In some cases, both types can be combined. The biggest differences are:

Payout terms: ePOWR with your energy bill, rPOWR after 3 months.
- Technical process: rPOWR works with reserved battery capacity and steers on grid frequency. While ePOWR is on wholesale energy markets and looks at real time system imbalance.

What is the difference between solar charging and eco mode?
Solar charging only uses your excess solar energy.  no sun means no charging. It's the greenest option. Eco mode only charges when the energy price is below a limit you set, regardless of the source. If you want fully automatic cost optimisation without setting thresholds, use Smart mode instead.
What is the difference between the app and web portal?
The MyFlexiO app (iOS/Android) and my.flexio.energy (web) display the same data. You can use the same login for both.
What is the FlexiO e-book?
The ebook is a free ebook with explanation about: home battery optimisation, grid balancing, capacity tariff savings, dynamic tariff. Download via lifepowr.io or the Knowledge Base
What is the peak test for grid balancing and why is my monthly peak increasing?
A peak test is a test that is required to make your installation ready for grid balancing. This test shows that your battery installation meets the grid operator’s requirements. Once the monthly peak is increased, more flexibility arises: FlexiO can then charge or discharge at higher power during favorable moments, which leads to greater savings over the long term. Keep in mind that the first month is often not yet profitable; from the second month onward the returns become more favorable.
When does my tariff change become active in FlexiO?
Tariff changes in the MyFlexiO app are synchronized with the FlexiObox once per day.

After changing your tariff:
• The old tariff remains visible in the app briefly
• The change is processed overnight
• From the next day, FlexiO controls according to the new tariff

Tip: Change your tariff as soon as your contract is active, then it will be operational the next day.
Which charger does FlexiO prefer for new installations?
FlexiO has no specific preference; choose a charger from the compatibility list on our website:
Why does my EV charger stop charging and not automatically resume?
This is a known issue with some chargers and/or cars, but the solution is not with FlexiO.

Cause: Some chargers and cars cannot properly handle paused charging sessions (e.g., in Solar mode).

Solution: Adjust the setting in:
• The EV charger app or charger settings
• Your car's settings

Look for an option to automatically resume charging sessions after pausing instead of terminating them.
