Backend Engineer

Will you help us achieve this goal as a Backend Engineer whose mission is to build robust and scalable backend services that form the backbone of our EMS platforms, enabling our customers and partners to gain maximum benefit from smart energy solutions.

Your challenge

As a Backend Engineer at LIFEPOWR, you will help build the foundation of our product platform. You will develop performant and secure backend services in a cloud-native environment, collaborate with our product team on new features and think about architecture and scalability.

Additional context: this is not just about writing code. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of features from concept to production and who wants to delve into the complexities of energy and IoT integrations.

An idea of what to expect:

• Contribute to technical choices, architecture and best practices
• Develop and maintain backend services in Node.js and occasionally in Python
• Working with AWS services such as IoT Core, Cognito, Lambdas, Amplify, Timestream, Aurora and ECS
• Design and optimize APIs that connect our services to partners and users
• Working in an agile product team, taking ownership of your stories from concept to release
• Work closely with frontend, UX and product to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Contribute to scalable data architectures and efficient storage/processing of energy data
• Monitor and improve performance, reliability and security of our systems

Technical skills

• Solid experience with JavaScript/TypeScript (must-have)
• Strong experience with Node.js (must-have)
• Good experience with Python 3.8 or later
• Familiarity with React is a plus (for collaboration with frontend)
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (IoT, Cognito, Lambdas, Amplify)
• Database experience(Timestream, Athena, SQL, DynamoDB, Aurora)
• Experience with API development (REST, OpenAPI)
• Understanding scalability, security and cloud-native architecture
• Experience with CI/CD, testing and monitoring is a strong plus

Location & language

• This position can be completely remote; the ability to come to our Antwerp office occasionally is a plus
• You speak English fluently (Dutch is a strong plus, but not a must)
