You will be responsible for the entire net balancing cycle from A to Z. As a member of the OPS team, your main objectives are to minimize the time until a connection point is operational, improve monitoring, and automate all VPP-related processes as much as possible.

Together with our technical OPS team and development team, you will analyze and improve the efficiency of our fleet net balancing.

An idea of what to expect:

• You will be the point of contact for grid balancing management (VPP = Virtual Power Plant)
• Your main goal is to maximize participation in grid balancing of existing and new connection points (residential and C&I installations)
• You reduce the time between installation configuration and effective participation in grid balancing
• You optimize the strategy to support partners in the field so that only plants that are grid-balancing capable are added to the fleet - target: 100% by the end of 2025
• You automate the process of (de)activation of net balancing
• You will improve the proactive monitoring of our net balancing devices together with the development team, investigate errors and find preventive solutions
• You work on quality control: in collaboration with the fleet management team, you report problems to partners and customers and follow up until they are resolved
• You analyze net balancing processes and eliminate bottlenecks for scalability
• You manage processes such as adding new connection points to the virtual pool, communicating with partners such as Elia and maintaining grid balancing pools
• You will be responsible for following up on FCR (a grid balancing service): communication with Elia, daily bids, billing processes: reconciliation, preparation and approval of incoming and outgoing invoices, ...
• You will be responsible for following up on Imbalance (also a grid balancing service): EAN checks with energy suppliers (partners), billing processes: reconciliation, preparation and approval of incoming and outgoing invoices, ...
• You will grow into a VPP domain expert: you will learn to understand the data flows of the technical teams, point out possible errors and suggest controls
• For all of the above, you will draft the necessary (functional) requirements and coordinate with the Team Lead / PO for software development

Technical skills

• Technical education; Master's degree in (Industrial) Engineering ICT / Electronics or a related engineering discipline
• Knowledge of the IoT world and networks
• Basic knowledge of hardware
• Experience with Raspberry Pi or other SoCs is a plus
• General knowledge of the physics behind electrical energy
• You can read code (in JavaScript/NodeJS/Python)
• Knowledge of the energy market is a plus

Location and language

• You live in Flanders (Belgium) and can regularly come to our Lab in Antwerp for interventions with physical devices - this is a hybrid position where remote work is also possible
• You master both Dutch and English
